Managers

I have just heard that this years 2 managers (Paddy and Gary) are not going to be involved in the next 2 milk cups in any capacity. I felt that both had done enough to merit holding their posts for a further 2 years as managers considering the success of both squads in the 2009 campaign.

When they weren't confirmed as managers for 2010 and 2011 I, like everyone else who supports and follows the county teams, assumed that they would have been given a backroom role in each squad.

What a snub for both of them to have no input whatsoever as well as Timmy who coached both squads keepers.

Both of them and their backroom teams found very successful formulae this year and this should have been built upon instead of demolished.

I dont really see what the county committee hope to achieve with this strategy but I do wish every success to the managers and squads for 2010 and 2011 and if they do not emulate the 2009 squads surely the chairman and committee will have to do a bit of soul searching and grovelling

Managers

Since my son played in the county milk cup squads i have been a strong supporter and follower of both squads.  I would like to offer my congratulations to the new in-coming managers who i have no doubt will acheive success in their 2 year tenture.

I have seen many highs and lows of the county performances mainly Junior games.  i think i have missed one junior game in the last 8 years and would have to ask how you define past successful managers (juniors) as facts, figures, scores and finishing positions do not hide.

04 -16th - 05 - 20th - 06  - 20th - 07 - 20th - 08 - 20th - 09 - 10th, If im not mistaken there is 24 teams in the junior competition.. Past success? finishing 10th last year was a great acheivement and hopeflully the new manager can build on this.

Managers
Firstly I would like to congratulate Joe and Ollie on their appointments as the team managers for the next 2 years.  I have to say I feel extremely sorry for both Paddy and Gary who guided their teams to finals this year. Ollie was a new and key factor in the success of the Junior set up this year and merits a go at the top job having never done it before.  Joe has had a go in the past for a good lot of years but hasnt been able to achieve the levels Paddy guided them to. Hopefully both new managers will draw on the experiences from their very successful predecessors and utilise them in some capacity.

Congratulations

Good luck to the office bearers in their roles over the next two years. Frank Trainor performs an excellent job, helped along the way by a very hard working team. Hope everything goes well for the County in the future.

coaches
I think theres no way that the coaches should be replaced! gary and paddy have done excellents work with the teams over the preiod they were in management, maybe a switch of age groups but definately not replacement!

Two points
First of all a big congrats to Shane on his selection to NI under 16s - good luck and hope the centre half is as good as jerusalems!!!! Secondly in response to the comment re the coaches, are you serious. Both Gary and Paddy guided their sides to new heights in 2009 and gave the boys, parents and coaches great pride and unforgettable memories. I know the positions are up for renewal this year but if its not broke don't fix it.

What a tourney
Now we've all had time to reflect on the achievements of last week I think Gary, Ollie, Davy and Timmy should be very proud of their own and their teams achievements. What a rollercoaster of a week!!! The Slemish Trophy Runners Up would have been a dream 2 weeks ago - but you did it - could easily have been the winners with a stroke of luck. The highlight was surely the semi victory over Macabi Haifa. The whole management and back up teams were as proud as they have possibly ever been and words were hard to come by as we were all dumdstruck. Thanks to all for giving our boys such a great opportunity and for helping them create memories which will live with everyone involved for a long time. The premier team brought home silverware as well - I can only imagine how pleased the County committee must be. Good luck for next year and hopefully in 2 years time the 2009 junior boys will be able to emulate the 2009 premiers
